Hands on activities during lockdown

As directed by the CBSE, schools have to follow Competency Based Education (CBE) which can be implemented only through innovative and joyful experiential pedagogies such as Art- Integrated Learning. This is to promote reflection, critical thinking, creativity, initiation, self-direction and other 21st century skills. Science department also allocated topics like energy resources, waste disposal system, science museums, renowned scientists and flora and fauna of Sikkim to study and make a project .This has ultimately helped our students to be 21st century-ready citizens by empowering them with the competencies to understand, analyse, evaluate, interpret and innovate various real-life situations that the students require to face the world outside the classrooms.

Our focus while teaching science:

Enabling students to move from the concrete (observing phenomena) to the abstract (understanding the principles or theories)

Encouraging the development of analytical and critical thinking skills and encourage interest in science. Supporting and strengthening theoretical knowledge. Experiencing the pleasure of discovery and development of their psycho-motor skills. Teaching how scientific knowledge can be used in daily life. Increasing creative thinking skills. Gains in scientific working methods and higher order thinking skills. Developing communication skills.
